The Black Keys - Turn Blue [Official Audio]

The Black Keys have released the 2nd single from their upcoming 2014 album Turn Blue. The band are clearly moving away from the heavy guitar and aggressive drumming that was the hallmark of their earlier career, and this song contains no lead guitar whatsoever. Dan Auerbach seems to be exorcising some demons, as he sings about hell below in the chorus and talks about carrying the weight and staying on track in the first verse. The second verse calls to mind songs likeEverlasting Light and Thickfreakness – there’s an intimate closeness that Auerbach expertly pours into his music. To me, the song sounds a bit like Solitude by Black Sabbath. Just a little funkier.

The advert, named The Unsung Hero, was posted online just few weeks ago and has already had almost 8 million views. It shows the heartwarming moments a young man performs acts of kindness on the community around him. He helps an elderly street vendor cross the street and gives a young girl begging for money for education his last note as others shake their heads in disapproval. The Unsung hero is also seen feeding a hungry dog. The voiceover for the clip outlines that the man does his good deeds anonymously and without any reason. It says: He won't be richer, He won't appear on TV and not a bit more famous. After around two minutes the advert's lessons are then revealed. The man witnesses happiness, feels love and receives what money can't buy - a world made more beautiful. The advert was made by Thai Life - an insurance company based in Bangkok.

Katy Perry - Birthday (Lyric Video)

Katy Perry is making us really, really hungry with the lyric video for her next Prism single, Birthday. It features a whole mess of delicious-looking cakes that I would very much like to smash my face into — I mean, consume a dainty slice of (while rocking back and forth in ecstasy). A colorful, jangly little video, Birthday boasts all the trappings of just that — streamers, jellybeans and lots and lots of frosting, which comes in handy when spelling out the song's innuendo-packed lyrics. Balloons, birthday suit, the cheery innocence of the jam certainly has some naughty bits. Given the grandness of past Prism videos — Tarzan-themed Roar, the Egyptian romp that was Dark Horse— I except no less than sugary confection perfection when it comes to Birthday.

Pharrell Williams - Happy (Official Music Video)

There's not a lot you can criticise with Happy; with Pharrell Williams’ classic soul voice it has a strong Motown feel - it's simple and archetypal with no embellishments. Unbelievably catchy, it's definitely the kind of song that makes you want to dance and sing along - an important element for any children's film tune. More importantly, it's infectiously cheerful with its summery vibes that ease that seasonal misery winter often brings and it's just so wonderfully innocent - not something often found in your average modern pop song.

Queens Of The Stone Age - Smooth Sailing

Queens of the Stone Age have shared the video for Smooth Sailing, from 2013's Like Clockwork. It's directed by Hiro Murai, and has Josh Homme going to some dark, drunken, and debaucherous places with a group of businessmen. “Some have called it a cautionary tale about karaoke as a gateway to all kinds of bad stuff, and since I’m in bed by 9pm every night, I’m just gonna treat this like a very, very short, albeit intense documentary”, Matador's Gerard Cosloy writes at Matablog.
